The film will take place shortly after Teresa (Brbara Colen), who returns home to Bacurau, a village in the semi-arid Serto of Brazil, to attend her grandmother’s funeral. Upon her arrival, Teresa immediately noticed signs that Bakurau was in a difficult situation. Basic equipment is missing, mobile phone coverage is reduced, drinking water supply is blocked and the truck carrying the drinking water arrives with bullets. It soon became clear that the corrupt government had completely left the village: Bakurau had not only been literally wiped off the map, but its citizens had also been attacked.
